Drummer number four.

Shed Heads are delighted to announce that for live shows, Mr Paul Young will sit in with the band on drums. However, there are no plans to gig this side of the new year as members of the group concentrate on their recording career.

Goodbye Mr Jones

We are sorry to say that after just under a year behind the drums with the Sheds, Paul Jones told the band last Thursday that "playing music is not top of his list of priorities" and he no longer "fancies it". In reply, on behalf of the band, KC thanks Paul for providing "a fresh energy to the music of a bunch of old geezers and to let us know if he ever fancies bashing the skins again".

A first for this band - a drummer sacks us before we sack them!

Skinkers

At last a chance to play again. Shed Heads are asked to provide the entertainment at the leaving do of AW's colleague Jonathan ("Jonno") Dunn next door to The London Dungeon on Tooley Street.
AW is a reluctant front man as KC says he will not do the between song patter and proves yet again his forte is insulting an audience but somehow getting away with it!

As one of the band sums up the performance: "a confident live rehearsal".

Set list: Back In The USSR, One For The Road, London Calling, Blue Moon Of Kentucky, With A Little Help From My Friends (with Jonathan Dunn); Ooh La La, The Weight, Instant Karma, How Come? Feel Like Making Love, Place Your Hands, Last Train To Clarkesville, 5448, What's My Number?, Mystery Train, These Boots Are Made For Walking and She's Tuff.

Plan B - Stuck in the USSR

The day before the Tunnel Vision Friday gig two members of the band were planning to get on airplanes to return to London when the volcano decided to blow in Iceland, dispensing ash across Europe and closing UK airspace. K managed to get on a train and arrive back in London late Thursday night. G was well and truly grounded in Moscow and not going to make the gig.

A big crowd was expected and as Shakespeare or Leo Sayer put it - the show must go on. The Shed Heads went to Plan B. Changes were made to the set and Steve and Gerry from The Great Escape were drafted in to play mandolin, guitar and banjo. With great support from a record crowd the "Fabulous Sheds" had a good night. George Coffey came on to sing one of his own songs, "She's Alright" and we also had the honour of Mr Larksby himself taking the stage for the encore to play some mean harmonica.

Set list: Back In The USSR, People Are Strange, Blue Moon of Kentucky, Ooh La La, Feel Like Making Love, You're So Rude, Instant Karma, She's Alright [with George Coffey], These Boots Are Made For Walking, Last Train To Clarksville and How Come. Encore - She's Tuff

Our poster

Go west young Jonesy

Despite the fact that G only returned from Australia two days earlier and was severely jet lagged, The Shed Heads play a short but tight set at the The Prince of Wales Theatre - home to "Mama Mia" in front of an enthusiastic crowd of partygoers. All in all, an uneventful evening - oh except Jonesy nearly got lifted by the police (twice!!)
Set: Back In the USSR, London Calling, Blue Moon of Kentucky, Feel Like Making Love, Instant Karma, Place Your Hands, These Boots Are Made For Walking and Last Train To Clarksville.

Will it happen in 2010?

One door closes and another door opens

With JT moving on, the band land very much on their collective feet with new drummer, Paul Jones. After just one rehearsal in KC's shed the band were keen to gig again, only to discover that Jonesy plans to travel around Australia for a couple of years and will be leaving in January!! Diaries are pulled and schedules scoured and there is only one date when everyone is available.
The venue - The River Bar, in front of an audience of E&Y staff and music industry types and hangers on supporting a local charity. The Quo kindly donate an autographed drum skin, which is knocked down for £500. Over £1,600 is raised in total. Jonesy fits in really well and a good time is had by all.
First set: How Come, Debris, Kushtey Rye, People Are Strange, Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out, The Weight.
Second Set: Feel Like Making Love, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Place Your Hands, Blue Moon of Kentucky, Back In The USSR, London Calling, One For The Road, Ooh La La, You're So Rude, Instant Karma, Last Train To Clarkesville, These Boots Are Made For Walking.
Encores: How Come and Place Your Hands.

The Spring Tour

The mini-tour gets off to a good start at The Plough for another appearance at Tunnel Vision. The set is a mix of old and new.
People Are Strange, Ooh La La, Debris, Feel LIke Making Love, Won't Get Fooled Again, Back In The USSR, One For The Road, London Calling, Place Your Hands.
The tour closes at The Aldersbrook Bowls Club the following week and is no one's idea of a fun gig despite having some old friends in the audience and getting paid!

Comic Relief 2009

As strange as it sounds and, indeed, as bizarre it was on the night, the band are Roy Walker's house band for the night in February.

Some nice professional photos too. Courtesy of E&Y.

It's been a while

Oh dear, has it really been a year since our last post? What with G touring with the mighty Status Quo and saying farewell to JT, 2009 proved to be a lull in The Shed Heads story. We will try to pick up where we left off, but first a brief on all things Shed Heads.
